The Challenge
Many travelers want to make more environmentally conscious travel choices, but most travel platforms prioritize convenience and price rather than sustainability.
As a result, users often struggle to identify lower-impact transportation options or discover local experiences that support communities and reduce environmental impact.
The challenge was to design a mobile experience that helps travelers explore destinations while making more sustainable choices easier to discover and plan.
Research
To better understand the problem space, the project explored user motivations, travel planning behavior and the challenges travelers face when trying to make sustainable choices.
The research focused on identifying common pain points in travel platforms and understanding how sustainability information can be communicated more clearly within a digital interface.
Insights were gathered through secondary research and analysis of existing travel platforms.
Key Insights
Several important insights emerged from the research:
• Many travelers are interested in more sustainable travel options but struggle to find clear information.
• Travel platforms often prioritize booking efficiency rather than environmental awareness.
• Local experiences and community-based activities are valued by travelers but are often difficult to discover.
These insights informed the design direction of the Eco Travel concept.

Design Concept
Eco Travel is a mobile UX concept designed to help travelers explore destinations through a sustainability-focused lens.
The interface encourages discovery of lower-impact travel options and authentic local experiences while maintaining a simple and intuitive navigation structure.
The concept focuses on three key areas:
Sustainable transportation
Highlighting lower-impact transportation options such as trains and public transport.
Local experiences
Promoting community activities, local food and nature-based experiences.
Trip exploration
Helping users browse destinations and travel options through structured and intuitive navigation.
Design Solution
The interface introduces a simple mobile structure where users can:
• explore destinations and travel options
• discover sustainable transportation alternatives
• find local experiences and activities
• plan trips with a stronger focus on environmental impact
Clear navigation, visual hierarchy and intuitive browsing patterns were used to make sustainable options easier to discover.
